It’s June 1st already! The calendar seems to move faster than it used to, doesn’t it? Summer is almost here, and it’s time to slow down a bit and spend time with family and friends. I can think of no better place to be than New England in the summertime! The ocean calls to us saying, “sit and gaze awhile”, while the beautiful state parks inspire us to enjoy and be inspired by nature. May was a busy month for us at Art on Center. Many heartfelt thanks go out to the amazing volunteers that made the B Strong Be Beautiful event a great success, YOU ROCK! I also want to say thank you to all the Art on Center volunteers who are here everyday, you are the best! We are looking ahead, scheduling some great workshops in the fall; Painting with Rosalie Nadeau, Digital Photography with Ron Zincone and more. As always, feel free to email me with ideas for classes. Peace to all,
Stacey Frates

Suminagashi WorkshopSuminagashi is the ancient Japanese technique of painting on water to create marbleized effects on paper.Literally, it means “ink-floating”, which is in reference to the Sumi-e inks that were originally used in the technique. The patterns are the result of color floated on either plain water or a viscous solution, and then carefully transferred to an absorbent surface, such as paper or fabric.Use the finished print to make cards, journal covers, backgrounds for collage, drawing or further print making projects.
